Desiree Tennison

Hi, I’m Desiree.

Life can feel overwhelming sometimes. You may be doing everything you can to hold it together while quietly struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, trauma, relationship stress, body image concerns, or feeling disconnected from yourself. Those struggles can often show up through eating concerns, emotional shutdown, self-doubt, irritability, or feeling like no one fully understands what’s going on beneath the surface. When that happens, you do not have to navigate it alone.

I am passionate about helping children, adolescents, young adults, and families feel more understood, connected, and empowered. My goal is to create a space where clients feel safe enough to be honest, challenged enough to grow, and supported enough to make lasting change. I believe therapy works best when there is a genuine relationship, collaboration, and a willingness to approach difficult experiences with both curiosity and compassion.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I bring over a decade of experience working with individuals and families across a variety of settings. My background includes social services, youth advocacy, family support, bereavement trauma work, and clinical mental health treatment. I have worked with adolescents, families, veterans, foster youth, individuals impacted by trauma, and clients navigating significant life transitions. Today, my clinical focus centers on eating disorders, ARFID, body image concerns, suicidal ideation and self-harm, anxiety, perfectionism, and trauma.

My therapeutic approach is warm, honest, and individualized. I incorporate evidence-based approaches including EMDR, CBT, DBT-informed strategies, exposure-based interventions, and family systems work to help clients better understand themselves while building practical tools for everyday life.

I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work, with a focus on children and families, from The University of Texas at Arlington.

Outside of the therapy room, I’m a wife, a mom to two amazing girls, and someone who deeply values family, connection, and making meaningful memories. I enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors, and being with the people who matter most.

Desiree’s fee is $185 per 50 minute session.
